Fall two times, get up three?

Let’s try this thing again.

I signed up to run my sixth marathon yesterday and decided to fundraise for Team In Training. Strangely I’m a little bit nervous. After a 6-month hiatus from nearly all things TNT purple, its going to be strange to be back on the other side of things. Really its just back where I started, but in a full-circle kind of way instead of return-to-square-one.

I’m running in memory of a friend, a wicked-fast runner with a slightly twisted sense of humor and near-constant smile. He kept my job endlessly entertaining and stocked me with dozens of great memories and lots of borderline-inappropriate emails that I printed out before leaving LLS as a reminder to keep laughing. Fulvio lived his life.

Truth be told, I haven’t run very much since my phantom foot issue in the fall, but I’ve done my fair share of yoga and spin classes and ran in a 5K last weekend with my sister, dedicating our run to a close family friend, Jennyball, who has been fighting breast cancer since early last summer. It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm Saturday morning and we ran together the whole way. Steps from the finish line Cait said, “for Jen,” giving me goosebumps. I’m really looking forward to running for a cause again.

P.S. See, Ashleigh?! I promised I’d revive this thing at some point…
